 The sitemaps importance is today out of discussion, it's been more than 2 years since yahoo, microsoft and google jointly announced the sitemap submition in robots.txt, according to a study presented in the WWW 09 in madrid by Uri Schonfeld, sitemap files submission has almost tripled over the last year.

With the recent announcement from Google in webmaster central blog, about changes and improvements in webmaster tools, improvements have been incorporated to meet this strong growth in sitemaps submission. Now they support the 50,000 urls in the sitemap as described in the sitemap index protocol. Thus reaches the theoretical number of 2500000000 urls using the Sitemap URLs protocol.

Therefore, today more than ever, knowing that Google indexes only 5% of the trillion, yes I said trillion (1,000,000,000,000) different urls they have count in May 2009, we must seize every visit of the major crawlers ( google bot, yahoo, microsoft bing etc). So what are you waiting to finish your sitemap?
